Maubeuge

Built in 1831, the Manège was originally a former military building assigned to the garrison cavalry. In 1983, the Manège became the Municipal Theater and, in 1990, the Transfrontier Cultural Center due to its proximity to Belgium.

In 1990, the Théâtre de Manège undertook a work of cultural and artistic influence on the Val de Sambre and Avesnois, motivated by a strong principle: access to culture and the performing arts for all. In 1991, the Manège Maubeuge became Scène Nationale and its artistic program revolves around an eclectic and multidisciplinary season, offered in partnership with the towns of Maubeuge, Aulnoye-Aymeries, Feignies and Jeumont.

Today the National Stage, the Manège Maubeuge is constantly changing. Programming of shows - in, theater, performances, circus, puppets, concerts, etc. - it is also an artistic residency space for many companies and artists, confirmed or emerging, and a place of production and contemporary creation in the Hauts region of France.
